I don’t know about you, but I have tried so many dry shampoos in my life that it’s hard to keep track. The search for the perfect dry shampoo is a challenge that seemingly never ends… but let me tell you – I think I found the glass slipper of dry shampoos, the perfect fit, the belle of the ball. Before I reveal the product that has changed my hair game, lets cover the challenges and issues that come with the dry shampoos that just haven’t measured up.
The Issues
First, I have dark brown hair (almost black) and this is the cause of one major issue I have faced with dry shampoos – the residue. That white power cast that just doesn’t seem to go away. Even if I apply before bed and sleep on it, as suggested by all the beauty guru’s, you can still tell that there is dry shampoo in my hair the next morning. My immediate thought every time is WHYYYY!? I don’t want to look like I have grey hair or powdery hair, I mean come on – who wants that?! I don't think this is as big of a problem with my fair haired besties, but for us with darker locks, its numero uno in terms of things I want to avoid in a dry shampoo. I know that certain brands have released “dark” versions of dry shampoo that are tinted, but every time I try one of these – the scent, the texture or the effectiveness just don’t measure up.
The other issue that I consistently face is the lingering scent. I am sure that some people like to have a lingering scent, but I am not one of those people, sorry folks! Once I apply my dry shampoo, I do not want to smell it all day long. In addition, my partner is scent-sensitive so this is not something that works in our household. While I love a nice smelling dry shampoo, I don’t want that scent to last longer that a few minutes.
Finally, the actual purpose of a dry shampoo – the effectiveness! This is something that I think most people look for. Does this dry shampoo make my hair feel refreshed? Does it combat greasy bangs and oily scalp between washes? Does it make it look like my hair is fresh even though I was too tired last night to have a shower!? The answer I want to all of these is a big fat YES.
The Game Changer
After a long and tedious hunt, I think I have found the perfect dry shampoo for me – the LOMA Dry Shampoo. If you are familiar with this brand, then you know that they have “free-from” formulas (no parabans, no sulphates, no phthalates, and no salt, gluten or soy) and only use natural aromas. The LOMA Dry Shampoo uses natural rice and tapioca starch to refresh your hair and has a natural fresh pear scent. And let me tell you – it ticks all of the boxes! The scent is pleasant but not overpowering and it does not linger. It works wonders to refresh my hair between washes and literally makes it look like I woke up fresh out of the shower when I use it before bed. Plus – NO RESIDUE! I did not think this would be the case based on the ingredients, but let me tell you – I can spray this on my roots as well as on my part and you cannot tell that I have any dry shampoo in my hair. It delivers everything I ask for from a dry shampoo and is a natural formula at that, it’s a win-win across the board. Will I repurchase after I use up my current can? Already have – numerous times! No matter which dry shampoo I try when I borrow from friends or try to use up old bottles, nothing compares and I always wish I had just opted for the LOMA dry shampoo from the get-go. Take it from me, give this one a try, you won’t be disappointed!
PS: This blog was not sponsored or influenced by LOMA - I just truly love the product that much!
